Samuel "Si" Irvin Beason

Samuel Irvin "Si" Beason, 89, of Westridge Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, January 28, 2011, 10:00 AM, at Epworth United Methodist Church with Pastor Brian Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Samuel Irvin "Si" Beason was born May 19, 1921 in Lubbock, Texas to Oscar Walton and Emma Alma (Gregg) Beason. He graduated from high school near Lubbock and attended John's Business College. Si married Mildred Jo Belew on October 13, 1940 in Roswell, NM. He served his country in the US Army during WWII where he spent time in England, France, Belgium and Germany. After Si returned, he worked for Needle's Tire Company in Lubbock. They moved to Carlsbad in 1952 and opened Beason's Furniture Store. Si operated the furniture store until he retired in 1992. He was a charter member of Epworth United Methodist. Si was also a member of the Elks Lodge # 1558 and VFW. He enjoyed traveling and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Belew Beason of Carlsbad, NM; three sons: Roger Beason and wife, Pat of Carlsbad, NM, Jeff Beason and wife, Elaine of Houston, TX, Tim Beason and wife, Vicki of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Charlie Beason, W. B. "Sport" Beason and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Hank Beason, Chris Beason, Sam Beason, Dylan Beason, Bryan Smith and Tino Larey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Calvin Crow, Steve Massey and Mark Heinrich. Memorial contributions may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, 1406 W. Blodgett Street, Carlsbad, NM 88220.
