Sammy Jack Miller, 83, of Jewel Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away September Sunday, 29, 2013 at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 4, 2013, 10:00 AM, at Fox and Lake Church of Christ with Brandon Watson officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Sammy Jack Miller was born March 30, 1930 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Charlie Washington and Mattie Monten (Weaver) Miller. He graduated from Seminole High School in 1949 and Sammy then attended Tarelton State College in Stephenville, TX. He married Louise O'Bryant on June 1, 1952 in Stephenville. Sammy served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1954. He and Louise moved to Seminole and Sammy went to work for Magnolia Drilling Company. They relocated to Carlsbad in 1965 where he went to work for Duval and Western Ag in the refinery and retired after 31 years of service. Sammy was a member of Fox and Lake Church of Christ where he served as a deacon and later an elder. He enjoyed teaching cabinetry, welding and electricity skills to 4-H Youth. Sammy was literally a "Jack of All Trades." His true passion was serving the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Randolph Miller; sister, Nora Cummings and three half sisters.
Survivors are his wife, Louise Miller of Carlsbad, NM; two daughters: Barbara Mounce and husband, Dwayne of Carlsbad, NM, Jeanie McKean and husband, Rick of Carlsbad, NM; five grandchildren: Gabriel David Mounce and wife, Stacey; Felt Aaron Mounce and wife, Brandi; Joshua Dale McKean and wife, Katie; Whitney Sarah Watson and husband, Brandon; Caleb Doyle McKean and wife, Sophia; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Katherine Holder and husband, Wayne of Lubbock, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gabriel Mounce, Felt Mounce, Joshua McKean, Caleb McKean, Israel Munoz and Jonathan Munoz. Honorary pallbearer is Ed Gassling, Henry Quintela and Rudy Munoz.
