Obituary
Salvador R. Chapo Elizondo, 83, passed away April 27, 2018 in Big Spring, Texas. Cremation has taken place. A vigil is scheduled for 7:30 PM, Thursday, May 10, 2018, at St. Edward Catholic Church Prayer Garden. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 11, 2018 at St. Edward Catholic Church with Fr. Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Salvador R. Chapo Elizondo was born January 6, 1935 in Carlsbad, NM to Manuel L. and Josefina (Miranda) Elizondo. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1953. Chapo served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked in California until returning to Carlsbad in 1967. Chapo worked in the potash mines for many years before retiring in 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors are his daughter, Gloria McDermit and husband, Rob; sons: Edward Elizondo and wife, Gina and Harvey Elizondo; grandchildren: Erica Salcido, Edward Elizondo, Jr., Rudy Elizondo, Anthony Elizondo, Summer Hernandez, Lindsay Elizondo, Bud Elizondo and Xander Elizondo; ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Edward Elizondo, Jr., Rudy Elizondo, Anthony Elizondo, Xander Elizondo, Erica Salcido, Summer Hernandez, Lindsay Elizondo and Andrew Hernandez.
