Sacarias "Sac" M. Doporto, Jr., 64, of Russell St., Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away after a long determined fight with cancer, January 23, 2016 at his home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 27, 2016, 2:00PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Salamon Munoz officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Sacarias "Sac" M. Doporto Jr. was born October 16, 1951 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Sacarias and Francisca (Martinez) Doporto. He graduated from CHS in 1971 and enlisted in the US Navy, serving two tours in Vietnam. Sac went to work in the potash mines in 1978, working for both AMAX and IMC retiring after 37 years. He loved watching sports and enjoyed boating, water skiing, fishing, motorcycling, and casinos. Sac never turned down the opportunity to be with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and Margie G. Gonzales.
Survivors are his brothers: Andres Doporto and wife Pricilla of Alamogordo, NM and Benny Deporto and wife Mary of Carlsbad, NM, Sisters: Nora Baiza and husband Danny of Roswell, NM, Elisa Granado and husband Raymond of Morton, TX, Eva Lopez and husband David of Carlsbad, NM, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Fred Ramirez, Harvey Jimenez, Ricky Lopez, Tony Martinez, Ray Granado Jr. and Chris Ortiz.
