Ruth Cassels, 85, of North Mesa Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away November 30, 2009 at her home.
Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 2, 2009, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brad Coates and Chaplain Ed Kneeland officiating.
Private interment will take place at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Ruth Cassels was born March 26, 1924 in Osage, Oklahoma to Orie Elmon and Edith (Brum) Parks. She graduated from high school in Wynona, OK in 1943. Ruth met Robert Cassels in grade school and kept in touch through the years. They later married December 5, 1944 in Carlsbad. Ruth lived in Oklahoma while Robert was in the service. They moved to Carlsbad after Robert was discharged to raise their family where they lived until moving to Las Vegas in 1962. Bob and Ruth returned to Carlsbad in 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Charlie Cassels; brothers: Hubert Parks and Frank Parks and an infant sister.
She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Cassels; son, Donald Cassels and wife, Arlene of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Beth Galloway and husband, Ray of Carlsbad, NM; four grandchildren: Reg Galloway, Cindy Brown, Andy Cassels and Jimmy Cassels; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters: Dorothea Mae Dail of Rogers, AR, Ruby Louise Parks of Independence, MO, Opal Elaine Ivy of Fort Smith, AR; brother, Robert Alan Parks of Bentonville, AR; also considered family, Mary Torrez and husband, Roy and their children Cathy and Tony.
