Russell V. Guilliams

Russell V. Guilliams, 89, of N. Mesquite Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away August 14, 2010 at Lakeview Christian Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 17, 2010, 11:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Russell was born December 28, 1920 to Monroe and Eliza Jane (McKinney) Guilliams in Pottersville, MO. He moved to New Mexico as a young boy with his family. Russell married Hallen Ross in 1938 in Weed, NM and later moved to Carlsbad. He worked for U.S. Borax until retiring in 1968. After Hallen's death, Russell married Louise Fortenberry in 1958. They moved to West Plains, MO where he operated a service station and drove a school bus until retiring again in 1993. Russell and Louise returned to Carlsbad the same year. He enjoyed farming but most of all spending time with his family. Russell is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hallen Guilliams in 1958; son, Leon Guilliams; grandson, James Lynn Wallace; sisters: Belva Potter, Dovie Beamblossom, Eulah Davis, Bess Bennett and brothers: Willie Guilliams and Hervil Guilliams. He is survived by his wife, Louise Guilliams of Carlsbad, NM, daughter, Melba Dudley and husband, Ermil of Carlsbad, NM; three sons: Don Guilliams and wife, Linda of West Plains, MO, Jimmy Durham of Lockney, TX and Danny Durham and wife, Lesca of Lockney, TX; eleven grandchildren: Stacey Jewell, Renee Kinsey, Aaron Guilliams, Terry Wallace, Lisa Mahaffey, Kevin Dudley, Rebecca Robinson, Bradley Durham, Lacy Durham, Michael Durham, Timothy Durham and numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren and sister, Delphia Evitt of Highland, NC. Pallbearers will be Christopher Wallace, Mark Robinson, Terry Wallace, Michael Durham, Timothy Durham and Danny Durham. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Dudley, Ermil Dudley and Gary Mahaffey.
