Rufina Ortega

Our beautiful loving mother, Rufina Lujan Ortega, left the earth to join our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, NM. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Friday, October 21, 2011 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Friday, October 21, 2011, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, October 22, 2011, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Rufina was born on August 26, 1926 in Fort Davis, Texas to Ireneo and Angela (Armendariz) Lujan. Rufina's children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved to be around her family and friends. She was a caring and giving person to many. She enjoyed crafts and sewing. She will be missed. The memories we have of her will never be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ylario Ortega, Sr.; son, Ylario Ortega, Jr. and brother, Nicolas Lujan. Survivors are daughter, Virginia Ortega Alvarez and husband, Pastor Alberto Alvarez of Carlsbad, NM; son, Cosme Ortega and wife, Elaine of Pecos, TX; grandchildren: Michelle A. Dominguez, Melissa Ann Gonzales, Albert Jr. Alvarez, Michael Lyon, Eleanor Ortega, Prissy Ortega, Jackie Ortega, Johnny Ortega, Cosme Ortega, Jr., Monica Ortega, Sarah Ortega and Christina Ortega; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Trinity Ornelas, Cosme Ortega, Jr., Donathan Dominguez, Ronald Dominguez, Chris Dominguez and Albert Alvarez, Jr. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
