Rudy Mendias Mendez, 55, of West Ortega Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Landsun Health Services Center. Visitation will be Sunday, March 4, 2012, from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Sunday, March 4, 2012, 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 5, 2012, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Vance Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Rudy Mendias Mendez was born on June 24, 1956, in Carlsbad, NM to Jose and Manuela (Mendias) Mendez. He always enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. Rudy was a die-hard Cowboys fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: James M. Mendez and William M. Mendez. Survivors are his siblings: Vickie Rodriquez of Carlsbad, NM, Joe M. Mendez, Jr. and wife, Eliser of El Paso, Texas, David M. Mendez of Las Cruces, NM, Lupe M. Mendez and wife, Sally of Las Cruces, NM, Manuel M. Mendez and wife, Delia of Hobbs, NM, Mary Helen Randolph and husband, Jerry of Howe, Texas, Lucy M. Fierro and husband, Edward of Carlsbad, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews.
