Rudolph Paul "Rudy" Muñoz, Sr.

Rudolph Paul “Rudy” Muñoz, Sr., 71, of E. Chapman Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away January 5, 2024 at his home. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM, Sunday, January 14, 2024 at New Song Fellowship with Rudy Muñoz, Jr. and Ray Young officiating.

Rudy was born April 6, 1952 in Carlsbad, NM, to Apolonio and Hortencia (Leos) Muñoz. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1971.  Rudy married Lovie Urquidez August 14, 1971 here in Carlsbad.  He went to work for IMC Potash Mine and retired after 24 years. Rudy served as scout master for Troop 270 and Troop 230.  Rudy also served, as volunteer fireman for Joel Fire Department.  He was a negotiator for Steel Workers of America. Rudy was a Free Mason and Shriner.  If you knew Rudy, he definitely loved to talk and never met a stranger.  Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family.  He was active with church.  Rudy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Christopher James Muñoz; sisters: Anna Rodriguez, Rosella Muñoz, Felice Muñoz and brother, Frank Muñoz.

Survivors are his wife, Lovie Muñoz; sons: Rudy Muñoz, Jr. and wife, Allyson, Israel J. Muñoz, Jonathan “J.J.” Muñoz and wife, Desiree; grandchildren: Cody Muñoz, Annie Muñoz, Maddy Muñoz, and Jonah Muñoz; siblings: Delora Elizondo, Michael Muñoz and wife, Rose, Teresa Morgan and husband, Jimmy, Carmen Bowman and husband, Tom; sister-in-law, Irma Muñoz and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
