Ruby Lee Jones King

Ruby Lee King was born March 11, 1913, on a ranch near Abilene, TX and spent her early years living amongst several other Texas towns. After completing high school and attending The International Business College in El Paso, Ruby made her last move; this time to Carlsbad, NM where she met Bill, the love of her life who she married on November 31, 1931. Four years later in 1935 they welcomed their only child and the light of their lives, Willene, into the world. A true joy to be around, Ruby blessed the lives of all who knew her by entertaining them with her undeniable wit and comforting them with her sweet, compassionate demeanor. Ruby lived life to the fullest and of utmost priority was her devotion to God and dedication to the Church of Christ where she held a long standing membership. After losing Bill in 1984, Ruby resided with and blessed the home of her daughter and son-in-law until 2009 when she entered Lakeview Christian Nursing Home. She always bragged about the wonderful care she received and developed deep relationships with all the help. The family extends a very special thank you to all the dedicated nurses, aides and hospice workers who took such great care of her, words cannot begin to express our gratitude. Ruby passed quietly during the morning, Monday, February 27, 2012, and is survived by her steadfast daughter and son-in-law, Willene and Don Roberts of Carlsbad; three loving granddaughters, Jeanine Rogers of Albuquerque, NM, Gwenette Bradley and husband Larry of Carlsbad, and Donna Roberts of Carlsbad; and two great-grandchildren, Eric Rogers and Tessa Bradley, both of Albuquerque, NM. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 29, 2012, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Lakeview Christian Home Chapel with Mike Veilleux, Sunset Church of Christ and Chaplain Terry McKean, Lakeview Christian Home, officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Lakeview Christian Home, 1905 W. Pierce St., Lakeview Christian Home Hospice, 1200 N. Canal St., or Noah's Ark, 5217 Buena Vista Drive, Carlsbad, NM 88220. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
