Ruben R. Duran (Stein), 51, passed away peacefully after a short illness at Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso, Texas on August 6, 2010. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. A Vigil is scheduled for Tuesday, August 10, 2010, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church, 1002 DeBaca, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, August 11, 2010, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Cyprian Uline, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Ruben was a resident of Van Horn, Texas. He was born January 11, 1959 to Guadalupe and Consuelo R. Duran. He was preceded in death by his mother, Consuelo, brother, Daniel "Boy" Duran, sister, Terry Navarrette, and his son Jeffrey Duran. Survivors include two sons, Matthew Navarette of San Diego, California and Jeremy Munoz of Carlsbad, New Mexico; father, Guadalupe Duran and wife, Elvira Florez of Carlsbad, New Mexico; four sisters Nancy Lopez and husband Frank, Yolanda Sing, Elsie Duran, all of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Olga Medina and husband, Juan of Avondale, Arizona; four brothers, Rudy Duran, and wife Renthia of Albuquerque, Michael Duran, and wife Rosie of Van Horn, Texas, Gerald Duran and wife, Linda of Tempe, Arizona and David Duran of Carlsbad, New Mexico; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Ruben enjoyed his favorite music "oldies"; watching his favorite football team the "Dallas Cowboys" and basketball with the "Lakers". Pallbearers will be Rudy Duran, Michael Duran, David Duran, Gerald Duran, Daniel Edward Duran and Joe Navarrette, Jr. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
