Roy Dewayne Rollins, 53, of Old Cavern Highway, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Covenant Hospital, Lubbock, Texas. Per his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, June 23, 2011, 10:00 AM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sam Freeman, of Lovington, New Mexico, officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Roy Dewayne Rollins was born February 6, 1958 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Roy Dale and Bonnie Sue (Green) Rollins. He graduated from high school in Hilton, Oklahoma in 1977. Roy married Tammie Shields on April 2, 1985 in Seminole, Texas. They made their home in Hobbs, New Mexico, moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma for one year in order to attend Vocational Tech School for refrigerated air conditioning. The family moved to Carlsbad in 1990, owned Food-Time Grocery on Greene Street for 3 years, then Roy went to work for Carlsbad Small Engine. His hobbies included spending time with family, especially the grandbabies, watching WWE Wrestling, coin collecting and fishing, fishing and fishing. Roy was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Tammie Rollins of Carlsbad, New Mexico; daughters, Lacey Flores and husband, Nicholas, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Amy Rollins of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Seven grandchildren: Sarah Flores, Ethan Flores, Ashlee Rollins, Alexis Venegas, Anna Flores, Isabell Flores, Victoria Rollins; two brothers, Michael Rollins, Greg Rollins and wife, Lisa, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Honorary pallbearers are Clyde Ray Bradshaw, Steven Rollins, Christopher Rollins, Michael Rollins, Greg Rollins, Isarel Venegas, Nicholas Flores and Barney Hollis.
