Roy Rayroux, 88, of Sandy Lane, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 11, 2009 at his home.
Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 16, 2009, 2:00 PM, at Grace Episcopal Church with Fr. Rod Hurst officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.

Roy Rayroux was born June 5, 1921 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Laurent Frederik and Lillie Rachel (Pennington) Rayroux. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1939 and worked on the family farm until being drafted into the US Army. Roy served with the 121st Station Hospital in Braintree, England as a surgical technician. His full uniform is displayed in the WWII Memorial Museum in Braintree. After returning Roy worked on the family farm until retiring in 1985. He married Jackie Davis on September 2, 1967 here in Carlsbad. After retiring, Roy and Jackie spent much of their time traveling. They were able to see all 50 states and several foreign countries. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and square dancing. Roy was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Farm Bureau, New Mexico Farm and Ranch, 4-H, and several square dancing clubs. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sisters, Ida and Ina Rayroux.
Survivors include his wife, Mary J. "Jackie" Rayroux of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Missy Wall and husband, Dean of Carlsbad, NM; son, Kenney Rayroux and wife, Carolyn of Carlsbad, NM; seven grandchildren: Tami DeArmond and husband, Phil, Jeff Wall and wife, Raylene, James Rayroux and wife, Katie, Shelli Rayroux, Bryan Rayroux and wife, Audrie, Hunter Rayroux and Lindsey Rayroux; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Jesse Rayroux and wife, Ann of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Jean Dougherty and husband, Jerry of Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Rayroux, Hunter Rayroux, Phil DeArmond, Richard West, James Rayroux and Keith Dougherty. Honorary Pallbearers are Jeff Wall, Brigido Garcia, Russ Power, David Baker, John White and All Square Dancers.
