Rosie "Nell" Smythe

Rosie Nell Smythe, 84, of W. McKay St., Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away June 9, 2016 at her home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Sunday, June 12, 2016 Denton-Wood Funeral Home Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, June 13, 2016, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David W. Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Rosie "Nell" Smythe was born September 3, 1931 in Bogota, Texas to Clarence Edward and Dora Belle (Keith) Shoffner. She married Billy O' Daniel at the end of her junior year in high school in Carey, TX. Nell moved to Carlsbad in 1950 where she worked for Food Jet and Kmart, retiring in 1979. She married Fred L. Smythe January 1, 1980. She enjoyed camping and always looked forward to the family reunions. Nell is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fred L. Smythe, son Danny O 'Daniel, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters. Survivors are her daughter: Debbie Milligan and husband, Rudy of Carlsbad, NM, stepdaughter: Kim Harrel and husband, Jackie of Carlsbad, NM; stepson: Steve Smythe and wife, Georgia of OK, Grandchildren: Toby Milligan and wife, Angie of Carlsbad, NM Shana Cromwell and husband, Gary of Prattville, AL. Stepgrandchildren: Jason, Tommy, Jared, Jeremiah, and Johnny Smythe, Bobby and Shawn Harrel, Erik Parraz, Cassandra Paschke, and Trisha Ramirez, numerous great grandchildren, sister: Jo Almond of Norman, OK, brother: Travis Shoffner of San Jose, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
