Rosemary "Shorty" M. Alvarez

Obituary Rosemary Shorty M. Alvarez, 59, was born on November 16, 1960, of Carlsbad, NM and was called home on November 21, 2019, at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, November 29, 2019, at Cross Church International, following will be a prayer and celebration of life service starting at 7:00 PM at Cross Church International. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Cross Church International with Pastor Roosevelt Armendariz officiation. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of making arrangements. Shorty attended Carlsbad Schools and participated in ROTC. Shorty loved cooking, singing, dancing and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a very friendly and outgoing person who loved everyone. Shorty also enjoyed going to garage sales and helping anyone in need. Shorty was preceded in death by her husband, Lazaro Alvarez; her parents: Roberto and Elydia Melendrez and brother, Raul Melendrez. Shorty is survived by her sons: Jeremy Melendrez, Ryan Melendrez and Alana Rodriguez; daughter, Ashlee Garcia and husband, Ruben; grandchildren: Serenity, Keegan, Daivien, Zoey, Zayveon, Melendrez, Mari Trujillo and Ruben Garcia, Jr.; siblings: Robert Melendrez, Erma Melendrez, Ida Melendrez, Elsa Chavez, Patsy Brown, Nila Rinehart, Senida Sanchez and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Keegan Melendrez, Daivien Melendrez, Leroy Rhinehart, Jaime Sanchez, Michael Ortiz and Carlos Galindo. Honorary pallbearers are Quincy and Tyler Williams, Adam Licon and Randy Melendrez.
