Ronald "Ron" W. Mathews

Ronald W. "Ron" Mathews, 85, of Sena Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at his home. There will be no visitation, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2014, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Ronald W. "Ron" Mathews was born August 27, 1928 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He was a life member of B.P.O. Elks, Lodge # 1558 where he served in several offices including Exalted Ruler and District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler. Ron loved karaoke and dancing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frankie Cole; sisters: Leah Walp, Yvonne Ethridge and grandson, Scott Mathews. Survivors are his wife, Gracie Mathews of Carlsbad, NM; children: Ronald Delk and wife, Gloria of Winston Salem, NC, Cheryl Lete and husband, Fred of Albuquerque, NM, David Mathews of Albuquerque, NM, Louanne Gianopoulos and husband, Demetrius of Castle Rock, CO, Ritchie Mathews and wife, Sonia of Carlsbad, NM; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
