Robert Ode Wicker, 86, of Sandia Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away November 24, 2010 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be Sunday, November 28, 2010, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home, 1001 N. Canal, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, November 29, 2010, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Lee Richards and Brian McGonagill officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Robert Ode Wicker was born December 17, 1923 to Robert Harper Wicker and Vera (Lam) Wicker in Gatesville, Texas. He married Dolly (Inman) on August 31, 1950 in Carlsbad. He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ and the BPOE Elks Lodge #1558. Robert's hobbies included playing bingo, bridge and doing crossword puzzles. He was an avid golfer in his younger years. For over 40 years beginning on February 16, 1945, Robert was employed with the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member in good standing with UTU (United Trainmans Union). He was preceded in death by his wife Dolly Mae Wicker in 2005, grandson Barton Keith Coley in 1980, brothers Wayne, Foy, Carl and sisters Wanda and Margaret. Survivors include daughter,Peggy Allen of Bastrop, Texas; grandson: Robert Coley of Carlsbad, New Mexico; grandaughters: Robin Ruyle of Bastrop, Texas and Dolly Hellinger and husband, Charles of Flationa, Texas; great grandchildren Jeremy Ruyle of Austin, Texas; Brian Coley of Carlsbad, New Mexico; Daniel Coley of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Dalton Allen of Bastrop, Texas and Hayden Wade of Bastrop, Texas; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister: Ramona Wheeler of Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Robert Coley, Robin Ruyle, Jeremy Ruyle, Dalton Allen, Hayden Wade, Mario Salinas and Jim Purcell.
