Robert Stephen Mitchell, of Westridge Rd, died September 10, 2016 at the age of 94.
Robert "Bob" was a longtime resident of Webster Groves, Missouri, before moving to Carlsbad in 2014. He was born in Boise, Idaho, obtained his Bachelor's degree from the College of Idaho and Master's degree from the University of California-Berkeley. He was a career employee of the Monsanto Company as a Senior Research Specialist.
During World War II, Bob served with the U.S. Army at Oak Ridge, Tenn. as part of the Manhattan Project.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Frances Speer Mitchell, of Carlsbad; daughters, Deborah M Zumack (Leroy) of Noyelles-les-Seclin, France; and Rev. Stephanie M Harmon (Kenneth) of Carlsbad, New Mexico; and four grandchildren: Christopher M Harmon, Kansas City, Missouri; Emily F Harmon, Roswell, New Mexico; Lydia A Zumack, Houston, Texas; and Martha Zumack, Oxford, England.
