Robert Gonzalez Hernandez, 77, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the Carlsbad Medical Center. Robert was born on March 25, 1947, in El Chapo Chihuahua, Mexico to Marcos and Luciana Hernandez.

Visitation is scheduled from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Friday, October 4, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM with Pastor Phillip Price officiating. Cremation will follow.

Robert was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses, working in his yard and garden. He also enjoyed his dog Ella, playing pool, going to the casino, and playing scratch offs. Robert was a big family man and loved spending time with his family making memories for a life time. He was a hard worker, retiring at the age of 65, and always enjoyed life to the fullest.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Marcos M. Hernandez; mother, Luciana (Gonzalez) Hernandez; grandson, Gabriel Rodriguez; granddaughter, Teresa Ferrel; great grandson, Joe Ray Valdez; and brother, Marcos Hernandez.

Robert is survived by his wife, Andrea (Porras) Hernandez of Carlsbad, NM; four children: Brenda Luevano and husband, Porfie of Artesia, NM; Jessica Ferrel of Denver, CO; Elisa Hernandez of Carlsbad, NM; and Robert Hernandez and wife, Carrie of Carlsbad, NM; fourteen grandchildren: Raul Valdez, Joe Ray Valdez, Sergio Luevano, Coco Segura, Jesse Ferrel (Meredith), Ruben Ferrel, Allysa Ferrel, Ariana Phillips (Antwon), Andrew Hernandez (Summer), Anthony Hernandez (Esther), Ruby Hernandez, Valerie Hernandez, Justin Maxwell, and Tristan Maxwell; twenty-seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; five siblings: Connie Ramirez of Santa Ana, CA; Cass Hernandez and wife, Fela of Carlsbad, NM; Irene Soto of Carlsbad, NM; Nancy Herrera and husband, Capi of Carlsbad, NM; and Martin Hernandez of Carlsbad, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
