Robert P. Castillo Sr., 88, of Kevil Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at his home.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home followed by a vigil at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 

Robert was born January 4, 1936, in Tuff, Texas to Teodoro and Erminia (Pedroza) Castillo. He married Esperanza Galindo March 4, 1955. Robert enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved vacationing to South Padre Island and spending time with family. 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esperanza Castillo; daughters: Hortencia Ramirez, Lilly Garcia, infant daughter, Cecilia Castillo; brothers: Manuel, Joe, and Rafael Castillo; sister, Maria Trujillo; great-great-grandson, Yovanni Burris.

Survivors are his children: Robert Castillo Jr. and wife, Oralia, Albert Castillo and wife, Hortencia, Cecilia Castillo, Jay Castillo, Christopher Cooper, Gabriel Cooper and wife, Jinavy; grandchildren: Carlos Ramirez Jr., Robert Castillo III, Laurie Castillo, Rosie Gonzalez, Andrea Castillo, Evelyn Castillo, Christina Castillo, Annie Garcia, Noel Ramirez, Norma Ramirez, Nick Ramirez, Nathan Ramirez, Xavier Castillo, Javier Castillo, Zya Castillo; 26 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Concha Buendia, Enocencio (Wero) Castillo, Tony Castillo, Lupe Castillo, Connie Collier, and Carmen Hernandez, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Carlos Ramirez Jr., Jay Castillo, Orlando Gonzalez Jr., Xavier Castillo, David C. Mendez, and Florencio Ruiz.  Honorary pallbearers are Albert G. Castillo, Robert Castillo Jr., Gabriel Cooper, and Christopher Cooper.
