Robert H. "Bob" Lewis, 79, of N. Lake Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at his home. There will be no public visitation. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, March 9, 2017, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Brunson officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Robert H. "Bob" Lewis was born April 23, 1937 in Carlsbad, NM to Arch and Margaret (Pickens) Lewis. He graduated from CHS in 1955. Bob married Marilyn Joyce Height May 28, 1960 in Sacramento, California where they started a family and resided until 1971. Bob and Joyce moved to Idaho that same year and Bob farmed and ranched for several years. They moved to Carlsbad in 1974. Bob worked various jobs but his main calling was serving as a minister. He pastored Lakewood Baptist Church many years and enjoyed working at Denton Funeral Home where he worked services and officiated many funerals. Bob shared his love of music at churches, senior center, funerals and most importantly with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Joyner. Survivors are his wife, Marilyn Joyce Lewis of Carlsbad, NM; son, Kevin Lewis of Lakewood, NM; daughters: Lisa Lewis of Portland, Oregon, Sherry Marshall and husband, Clarence of El Paso, Texas, Kimberly Johnson of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Monica, Susan, Kevin, Elizabeth, Christopher, Robert, Sage, Carol, Jeremy, Richard, Hayley and Solomon; 14 great-grandchildren; nephews: Brad Brubaker and Brian Joyner.
