Robert "Bob" D. Nymeyer

Robert D. "Bob" Nymeyer, 81, of N. 8th Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his home. There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 29, 2017, 10:30 AM at Loving Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Tarvin officiating. Private interment will take place in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Robert D. "Bob" Nymeyer was born September 29, 1935 in Carlsbad, NM to James Ora and Mary Frances (Burgess) Nymeyer. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1953. Bob earned his BA at ENMU-Portales in Industrial Technology and Education. He also received an associate's degree in nursing from NMSU-C. Bob taught industrial arts for several years and enjoyed running Nymeyer Machine and Welding over 30 years. He married Katherine Skaggs May 7, 1992 here in Carlsbad. Bob's hobbies included farming, shooting, hunting, playing his guitar and restoring tractors and farm machinery. He was a member of Carlsbad Rifle and Pistol Club and was past president of FFA. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ora Lawrence Nymeyer. Survivors are his wife, Katherine "Kathy" Nymeyer of Carlsbad, NM; children: Frank Alan Nymeyer and wife, Carla of Carlsbad, NM, Earl Ray Nymeyer and wife, Julie of Hobbs, NM, Terri Mendez of Ft. Wayne, IN, Debbie Lynn Torres and husband, Albert of Warsaw, IN, Hershel Elvin "Bud" Skaggs of Albuquerque, NM; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters: Margaret Williams of Gatesville, Texas, Mary Linda Gober of Odessa, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
