Robbie Mabel Adams, 100, of Gillock Rd., Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away July 2, 2012 at Landsun Health Service Center. Visitation will be 5:00 PM-8:00 PM, Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, July 6, 2012, 9:30 AM, at the Carlsbad Cemetery with J.D. Brown and Reverend Dan Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Robbie Mabel Adams was born October 10, 1911 in Snyder, Tx. At 6 years old, her family rode in a wagon to Lubbock, Tx. where they caught a train to Grants, N.M. She graduated from Grants High School in 1930 as Class Valedictorian. On June 11, 1930, she married George Hank Adams in Holbrook, AZ. They loved traveling and living in Arizona, California, Washington, Nevada and New Mexico, having children along the way. In 1946, they settled in San Diego long enough to lease a restaurant for 10 years. After retirement, Robbie and Hank oversaw a ranch in Nevada until 1969. After the ranch, they traveled for the next twenty years visiting relatives and fishing. In 1988, Robbie and Hank moved to Carlsbad to live at their daughter and son-in-law's ranch. Robbie is known by all, for the hundreds of afghans she's made over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Hank Adams, son; Bob Adams, daughter; Beverly Gillock, grandson; Buddy J. Barnes, great-grandson; Austin Calderon, brothers; Louis Marable, Charles Marable, Tom Marable, Dick Marable, sisters; Faye Small and Hazel Howard. Survivors are two sons; Lawrence Adams and wife Marcia of Prescott, AZ., John Adams of Escondido, CA.; son-in-law; Bill Gillock of Carlsbad, N.M.; one brother; Bill Marable of Broken Bow, OK.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
