Rick Hayes, 64, of Mescalero Street, Carlsbad, NM passed away June 14, 2023 at his home with his family and friends. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.

Rick was born March 17, 1959 in Carlsbad, NM to Robert and Maxine (Sawyer) Hayes.  He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1977 and received an associates degree from NMSU-Carlsbad.  Rick married Vicki Tolar February 2, 1988 here in Carlsbad.  He received an EMT certification and worked at Carlsbad Medical Center for eight years. Rick then worked at Dr. Perkowski’s office fifteen years.  During the past ten years, Rick was office manager at 2-Day Paint.  He was a talented artist and enjoyed painting and listening to music. Rick was an avid NASCAR fan.  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa Wilson and a nephew.

Survivors are his wife, Vicki Hayes; daughters: Virginia Hayes and Laura Smith; grandchildren: Brady Hayes, Joseph Hayes, Kevin Burnes, Robert Burnes, Rylie Smith, Randall Smith, Rhyanna Wilson and Dalton Barnes; great-grandsons: Roland and Trustin; brother, Thomas Hayes; sister, Susan Zimmerly and husband, Ty and several nieces and nephews.
