Richard M. Howell

Richard M. Howell, 78, of White Pine Road, Lakewood, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at his home. Visitation will be 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Graveside Service is scheduled for Sunday, October 23, 2011, 2:00 PM, at McDonald Cemetery, Lakewood, New Mexico with Bro. Walt Isaacs officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Richard M. Howell was born July 22, 1933 in Carlsbad, NM to James Edward and Viola Gipson (Adams) Howell. He married Shirley LaVerne Miller on January 18, 1952 in Carlsbad, NM. Together they made their home west of 7 Rivers where they ranched together for the last 59 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to everyone that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, on January 7, 2011; son, Dale Howell in 1997; brother, James Howard Howell; infant sister; two son-in-laws: Dale Stafford and Mike Cummings. Survivors are two daughters: Sharon Stafford of Lakewood, New Mexico, Terrie Cummings of Lakewood, New Mexico; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 expected great-grandchildren in 2012 and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Pallbearers are Justin Cummings, Shawn Cummings, Andrew Costello, Richard Costello, Wayne Howell and Alan Howell. Honorary pallbearers will be M. L. Fanning, Gary Rust and Chad Nance.
