Richard Lee (Dick) West went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ peacefully among family members December 19, 2012. Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, December 23, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Otis Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Dick was born December 4, 1928 to Jesse Christopher West and Lillie Bell Keynon West in Carlsbad, NM. He served in the Army and he was a sergeant when he was honorably discharged. He gave his life to Jesus August 1955 and he married Glenda Yvonne Shahan August 20, 1955. He was a retired potash miner and farmer. He enjoyed camping and fishing and his dogs and cats especially Lord Chumlee. He was a member of the Otis Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, his three brothers, J.C. West, Bud West, Don C. West, his three sisters, Velma L. Carpenter, Virginia Paul, Betty McCullough, his daughter Memory Gay Parrish and his mother and father in law Glenn and Polly Shahan. He is survived by his wife, Glenda West of Carlsbad, NM; children: Richard G. West and wife, Rachel, Randy L. West and wife, Mona; son-in-law Roger Parrish; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ennis and Shirleen Brooks and Allan and Phillys Shahan; grandchildren: Kristie Hill, Cindy Michaels, Grace Ibis, Tyler Parrish, Tom West, Mike West, Chris West, Jessica Herndon, Ricardo (Richard) West, Melissa West, Miranda Powell, Randel West II and Damion West; 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Pallbearers will be Tom West, Mike West, Chris West, Randel West II, Ennis Ray Brooks and Tyler Parrish. Honorary Pallbearers are Harold Faulk, Jim Wilcox, Ralph Maxwell, Keith Littrell, Paul Hodges and Frank Buffington. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
