Richard D. Shank "Snake", 69 passed away at his home in Carlsbad, NM Friday, February 25, 2011 after a long-term illness. He was born July 10, 1941 in Bingham Canyon, Utah, to Clyde Oliver and Lillian Marjorie (Beaver) Shank. His parents, Clyde and Lillian Shank, sister, Bette Davis and brother, Michael Shank preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl de Montigny of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Jesse Katislas (Tyria) of Fulshear, TX; Justin Katsilas (Chloe) of E. Helena, MT; daughters: Malinda Wise (Tim) of Reno, NV, Halley's Shank of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Lucille Gerberich of New Orleans, LA; 9 grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful person who enjoyed and had a lot of pride in his trade of being a flooring contractor. He enjoyed playing billards, horse racing, doing a little gambling and giving grief in a joking way. He will be remembered for his strength of always helping family and friends working on cars, motorcycles, and enjoyed spending time in the mountains and lakes. He can rest in peace knowing that he instilled in his family to be considerate, respectful, have a sense of pride, humility and excel to the best of your ability. Rich always left a strong presence in everyone he met through his path of friends and family. He is leaving a lasting memory in all of our hearts and minds. Cremation has taken place under the care of Denton-Wood Funeral Home, Carlsbad NM. Per his wishes, there will be a family gathering to spread his cremains in New Orleans, LA on March 21, 2011.
