Rhonda Mendes-Kennedy

Rhonda Mendes-Kennedy, 58, of Soper Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Mountainview Regional Medical Center, Las Cruces.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.  Cremation will follow and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 27, 2022 at New Song Christian Fellowship with Pastor John Wesley Burke officiating.  Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.  Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Rhonda was born June 7, 1964 in Carlsbad, NM to Ronald G. and Betty June (Jones) Hopkins.  She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1982.  Rhonda began working at the Eddy County Detention Center in 1987 and retired after 28 years of service.  She was currently working at the Northgate Chevron-Brewer Oil Co.  Rhonda enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.  She was a member of New Song Christian Fellowship.  Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors are her son, Brandon Mendes and Michelle Alvarado; daughters: Misty Judy and husband, Josh, Charli Kennedy; grandchildren: Adrianna Mendes and Genesis Mendes; sister-in-law, Jeri Kennedy-Dukart.
