Retta R. Boren

Retta R. Boren, 86, of Farris Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away April 19, 2011 at Landsun Health Service Center. There will be no public visitation. A Graveside Service is scheduled for Friday, April 22, 2011, 2:00 PM, at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Pastor Kevin Pence officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Retta R. Boren was born in Scranton, TX on June 4, 1924 to Thomas and Eula Mae (Boatman) Ledbetter. She married Alvin T. Boren on June 27, 1942 in Texas. The family moved to Carlsbad in the early 1960's, purchasing Cooper Shoe Shop and renamed it Boren's Shoe Shop. She was a member of Cavern Baptist Church. Retta hobbies included quilting, painting and working outside in her yard just to name a few. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Alvin K. Boren and brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, Alvin T. Boren of Carlsbad, NM; son, Donald D. "Don" Boren of South Carolina; two daughters: Donna J. Boren of Carlsbad, NM, Judy K. Smith and husband, Ernest D. of Carlsbad, NM; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Tom Ledbetter and Lloyd Ledbetter and wife, Lea all of Texas.
