Raynulfo "Ray" Ortiz, 67, of Wildrose, Carlsbad, NM, passed away October 10, 2014 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Thursday, October 16, 2014, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, October 17, 2014, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Agnel Anthony officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Raynulfo "Ray" Ortiz was born September 24, 1947 in Carlsbad, NM to Joe and Margarita (Gonzalez) Ortiz. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family. Ray was an avid 49er fan. He worked in the mines for over 40 years. Ray was a hero to his family. He was a devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Frank Dominguez and Mike Ortiz. Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Alice Ortiz of Carlsbad, NM; children: Anthony Ortiz of Carlsbad, NM, Ruben Ortiz and wife, Monet of Carlsbad, NM, Cynthia Ortiz of Carlsbad, NM, Richard Ortiz of Carlsbad, NM; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, Veto Dominguez and wife, Jane of Carlsbad, NM; sisters: Trine Armendarez of Loving, NM, Anita Ortiz of Artesia, NM, Sylvia Dominguez of Carlsbad, NM; mother-in-law, Elisa Rodriguez of Carlsbad, NM and numerous nieces and nephews.
