Obituary
On Saturday, October 31, 2020, Raymond, loving and caring father of five and Paw-paw of 14 grandkids passed away at the age of 80.
Raymond was born in Marlin, Texas to Rosa and N.C. Ramirez. Growing up in Marlin, Raymond was a very skilled drummer in the high school band. Later this would develop into a career in Country music bands. Raymond played with Roy Clark, Little Joe, and Dale McBride just to name a few. Raymond always loved music and playing the drums. Raymonds passions included his long-time job of law enforcement, collecting and selling antiques, and his love of sports especially baseball and the Texas Rangers.
Raymond worked with the Eddy Country Sherriffs Department from January 1979 to December 2000 when he retired. While he worked for the sheriffs department, he was promoted to Major in 1997, Chief Deputy in 1999 and implemented several important task force positions as well as department policies.
Raymond was preceded in death by his father NC and his mother Rosa. Raymond was married for 40 years. He is survived by his 5 children: Raymond Jr. and wife, Angela, Pete Garza and wife, Brenda, Linda Walker and husband, Altonall residing in Carlsbad, NM, Regina Webber and husband, Michaelof Marlin, Texas, and Rebecca Knapp and husband, Matthewof Leechburg, Pennsylvania and 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, his brothers Henry, Ben, and Edward, his Aunt Lucy Cantu, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
At this time there is no funeral service scheduled due to Covid. We do plan to have a memorial service for Raymond in the Spring in Carlsbad, NM and Marlin, TX.
