Raymond King

Raymond King, 91, of N. James Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at his home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 28, 2016, 10:00 AM, at First United Methodist Church with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Raymond King was born January 6, 1925 in Wilmington, California to Homer and Cordie (Bynum) King. He moved to Carlsbad as a young man with his parents. Raymond graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1943 where he played football. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. Raymond married Margaret A. Rockwell February 19, 1949 in Roswell, NM. He attended 2 years at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. Raymond went to work in the potash mines as an electrician and retired after 40 years of service. He was a life member of the IBEW, Local #643. Raymond was a member of Shuffles & Ruffles Dance Club, VFW and American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 siblings; son-in-law, Ricky Hunt, Sr.; grandsons: Ricky Hunt, Jr. and Robert Alan King and granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn King. Survivors are his wife, Peggy King of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Paula R. Hunt of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Bob King and wife, Barbara of Hermosa, South Dakota, Tom King and wife, Mary of Peoria, Arizona, Dan King and wife, Judy of Carlsbad, NM; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Robert King, Tom King, Danny King, Ryan Gillespie, John Proulx, Chris Caballero, Ricky Short, Leroy Romero, Rick McKean and P.J. Martinez.
