Raul Quintana

Raul Quintana, 88, of Mission Ave., Carlsbad, NM, passed away June 29, 2024 at Goodlife Assisted Living. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, July 8, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Cole Calloway officiating.

Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Raul was born August 11, 1935, in Redford, Texas, to Tomas and Carolina (Salinas) Quintana. He graduated from New Mexico Military Institute. Raul served in the New Mexico Army Reserve. He married Mickie Whitaker April 10, 1955. In the early years Raul worked at Home Furniture. In 1964, he became co-owner of House of Furniture until 1972 when he opened Décor of Carlsbad which he operated until retiring in 2020. Raul served on the board of Carlsbad Municipal Schools, Western Commerce Bank, College of the Southwest and president of Boys and Girls Club. He was active with Walk to Emmaus and involved with Kairos prison ministry. Raul was a member of Carlsbad Rotary Club and many local organizations through the years. He was preceded in death by his parents; Tomas and Carolina Quintana; wife, Dela F. “Mickie” Quintana; brothers: Fortino and Tommy Quintana; sisters: Dorothy Granado and Eliza Santa Cruz.

Survivors are his sons: Roland Quintana, Patrick Quintana and wife, Jolie; grandchildren: Olivia Quintana, Sunnie Sutphin, Summer Winn and husband, Ryan, Cole Calloway and wife, Rachel; sister, Angelina Bennett and many beloved nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
