Randall W. Jenkins, Sr.

Obituary Randall Wray Jenkins, Sr. entered this life June 26, 1935 in Winters, Texas and lived 83 years passing away October 4, 2018. This closes a chapter in the Jenkins family as he was the last of 3 brothers and 3 sisters which passed before him in addition to all of their spouses. He was one of only 3 grandchildren left from the Jenkins family tree in which his father had 9 brothers and sisters. Randall is preceded in death by his parents Clyde Royal and Nona Opal Porch Jenkins, his loving wife Billie, his siblings including brothers David and wife Mary, Francis Oran (Cooter) and wife Dora (Nikki), Dennis and wife Helen, and sisters Telva (Tilly) and husband Marshall Raley, Jacquetta and husband Clarence (Cop) Darnell and Mary Alice and husband Richard Smith, in addition to two nieces Marnell Raley Sparks and Sydney Darnell Livingston. He is survived by children Randall Jenkins Jr., P. Joy Jenkins and Jay Jenkins and wife Kirstin. He is also survived by his grandchildren Megan and Samantha Jenkins and Easton Wray Curl, in addition to many nieces and nephews. Randall grew up and graduated Artesia High School in 1954. He was in the Army National Guard and predominantly worked in the oil field most of his life drilling oil/gas and water wells with his brother Dennis which they had Jenkins Brothers Drilling. He worked in the potash mines, owned a restaurant, scrap metal business, and welding shop for many years. He loved to buy and sell things always searching for a good trade. He was a member of the Eddy Masonic Lodge and active with the Shriners for many years including becoming President of the local Shriners chapter and participating in many fundraisers to benefit children. He was a member of the Eddy County Sheriffs Posse helping with rodeos and arena improvements for many years. In the 1980s he traveled and worked on several mission trips helping to build churches in Mexico with neighbor Lloyd Jackson. He had a kind heart, never met a stranger and always welcomed the opportunity to help someone in need. He was a good father instilling that there is no cants always cans - there is always a way to make things work. If you didnt have the piece or part then you made one to fit. His whole life he loved to hunt and fish and travel and in later years accomplishing one of his dreams of going to Alaska. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Joy Jenkins officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
