Ramon was born in Carlsbad New Mexico in 1930 on June 15th to Dolores and Francesca Villalpando.
Ramon grew up in old San Jose area before the 1941 flood which took with it their home. After the flood they were given land in what was to be known as New San Jose. Ramon went to school and helped his father work and support his family as a young boy because his mother was bed ridden as a result of very bad diabetes. He helped his father in whatever his father asked. As a result he learned how to butcher meat. He worked at the bowling alley setting pins. He also worked at the military base cleaning up the casings from spent artillery the men used in their practice, the young boys would do that because all the older men were deployed to Korea . Our Father also helped his father build the neighbor hood store that would become the place where so many families bought their groceries. Ramon also enrolled in Army and was sent to Japan where he cleaned and repaired so much of the military jeeps or other mechanical equipment used in war. But before he shipped out he married our mother Lily Segura. He served his 3 year term and came home to his bride and their first child Cecilia. Ramon then went to work driving the big rig 18 wheeler trucks.
For the next 43 years he worked at several overland trucking companies. My father loved his job although it was a very physical job he never complained. He really enjoyed driving and could back up his truck into the most compromised space without any problems which always was so awesome to see!!!
Ramon was a very hard worker, wonderful father and good friend to those who knew him.
Ramon and Lily had 7 children, Cecilia, Ramon Jr., Rosie, Virginia, Christina, Dolores, and Pamela. His Family was very important to him and he would spend his free time with his family doing the fun things he enjoyed, camping, fishing, hunting .He would take them to California on yearly trips to spend time with both of their families. Taking them to the beaches and beautiful National parks and whatever recreational area's were for families to enjoy. Ramon was also a wonderful cook and grill master and many weekends would be spent having cook outs for family and friends.
He also was a fabulous craftsman and would build many beautiful tables, chairs, playhouses, dollhouses, benches dog houses, bird houses, he made puzzles and games and he would make them all unique and special .
Ramon and Lily's 7 children would grow the family by adding wonderful beautiful grandchildren, great grand children, great great grandchildren. All of them would be loved unconditionally by both Ramon and Lily.
To say Ramon was a generous, caring, and hospitable man is an understatement.but he was also a man that as the years rolled on grew his spiritual relationship with God. He made his dedication to his God Jehovah. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
