Ramon Nunez, 62, former resident, passed away Thursday August 8, 2013 at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Friday, August 16, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Friday, August 16, 2013, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2013, 1:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Ray was born to Tomasa and Ramon Nunez on August 31, 1950 in Carlsbad, NM. After graduations from Carlsbad High School in 1969 Ray went to Diesel Mechanic School in Phoenix. Upon graduation from Diesel Mechanic School, Ray joined the US Army during Vietnam. After returning home from the Army, Ray met and married his wife of 40 years, Sharlene. He left life doing what he loved best, riding his Harley. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Ramon Nunez; step-fathers: Manuel Colorado and Angel Galindo. Survivors are his wife, Sharlene Nunez of Peoria, AZ, son, Raymond Nunez of Glendale, AZ; three daughters: Frances Nunez of Phoenix, AZ, Viviana Valdibieso of Amarillo, TX, Veronica Delgado of Amarillo, TX, 11 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; mother, Tomasa Colorado of Santa Fe, NM; siblings: Manuela Espinoza and husband, Jorge, Maria Galvan, Yolanda Colorado Smoker and husband, Brett, Jaime Colorado, Lorenzo Colorado, Oscar Colorado, Vicky Valencia and husband, Miguel, Leticia Colorado, Sandy Garcia and husband, Chino and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Pallbearers will be Terrence Tropez, Cory Cooks, Donte Tropez, Cody Cooks, Coby Cooks and Xavier Ramos. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
