Poe Hardin, 68, former resident of Carlsbad, passed away September 7, 2010 at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, OK. Interment will be 9:00 AM, Friday, September 24, 2010 next to his mother in Carlsbad Cemetery with Norman Hardin officiating. Carlsbad Veteran's Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Poe Hardin was born September 17, 1941 in Hobbs, NM to Jack and Billie L. (Curtis) Hardin. He served his country in the US Army and was an expert rifleman. Poe worked as an electrician in the potash mines for a number of years. He was a skilled electrician, mechanic, mason, carpenter, and wood carver. Poe enjoyed camping, hunting and inventing. He was also known and loved for his homemade engineered designs, artistry and storytelling. Survivors include son: Wesley Hardin of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Brenda Buttrey and husband, Ezra John of Carlsbad, NM, Jeana Perini and husband, John of Artesia, NM; a brother: Norman Hardin of Witchita, KS; a stepsister: Ann Webb and husband, Buddy of Hobbs, NM; grandchildren: Tiffany Bishop and husband, Craig, Jeremy Rodriguez, Michelle Perini, Brandon Perini, and Mark Perini.
