Phyllis L. Melvin

Phyllis L. Melvin, 85, former resident, passed away November 28, 2009 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, December 3, 2009, 11:00 AM, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Pastor Herb Gage officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Phyllis L. Melvin was born April 22, 1924 in Huntington Beach, California to Charles Ansum and Myrtle (Smith) Stigler. She graduated from high school in Hobbs, NM in 1944. Phyllis married George Melvin on August 2, 1961 in Lovington, NM. They moved to Carlsbad in 1973 where they lived until moving to Utah in 1999. She was an active member of Cavern Baptist Church. In recent years, Phyllis resided in Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, George Melvin. Survivors are her two sons: Ted Ryan of Laguna Hills, California, Jeffrey Melvin and wife, Ty of Arlington, TX and eight grandchildren. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
