Pete Aguilar, 75, of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away November 22, 2010 at Presbyterian-Kaseman Hospice. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, November 26, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Carlsbad, with Rev. Daniel Praeuner officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Pete was born April 1935 in Artesia, New Mexico. He graduated from Carlsbad High school in 1954 and NMU in 1957. He held a BS Geology and a Masters Degree in Science Education. He was called to serve his country in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1961. He worked for the NM State Highway Department, the U.S. Department of the Interior in 4 different agencies during his career. Later on, Pete became an Independent Mineral Leasing Consultant. Pete met his wife Frances Kleinhans in 1961 and they were married in St. Peter's Luthern Church in Bowie, Texas. They have two loving children, Beverly & Keith. The family lived in Carlsbad, Albuquerque, Roswell, and Lakewood Colorado. Pete & Frances retired to Roswell, NM in 2000. Together Pete & Frances have three wonderful grandchildren-Brienn, Briggs & Madison. Pete was an active member in many organizations: Immanuel Lutheran Church (Roswell), Southeast Thrivent Chapter 30214, Past President of the Roswell Geological Society, Roswell Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet in America. Pete enjoyed flying his radio control airplanes, singing in barber shop, traveling and spending time with his family. He had a smile for everyone that was contagious and had such a loving caring spirit that drew people in. Pete made friends wherever he went and will be missed by many. Pete is survived by his wife Frances, daughter Beverly Reid, son in-law Bruce Reid, granddaugher Brienn Breffle, grandson Briggs Reid. Son Keith Aguilar, daughter in-law Lynette Aguilar, granddaughter Madison Aguilar, brother Paul Aguilar and wife, Julia, sister Priscilla Salcido, brother Mike Aguilar and wife Ester and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Michael Aguilar, Ivan Aguilar, Richard Aguilar, Ruben Aguilar, Clark Harvey and Michael McCormick.
