Perry L. Hournbuckle, 82, of Monte Vista Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 at Landsun Homes. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Monday, August 20, 2012, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 21, 2012, 10:00 AM, at First Assembly of God with Pastor Brad Coates officiating. Private interment will take place at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Perry L. Hournbuckle was born on October 28, 1929, in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma, to George Lewis and Clara Opal (Taylor) Hournbuckle. He married Mildred Grace Johnson on July 19, 1947, in Slaton, Texas and moved to Carlsbad soon after. Perry worked in the potash mines and construction. In 1971, he went to work for Stearns Catalytic Company as a concrete engineer. Perry traveled all over the United States building heavy industrial projects, retiring in 1994. During retirement he built mission churches for the Assembly of God and Teen Challenge of New Mexico. Perry enjoyed classical music, photography and leather tailoring. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred Grace Hournbuckle; son, Paul L. Hournbuckle; 5 grandchildren; brothers: John Edwin Hournbuckle and Wilburn Truman Hournbuckle and son-in-law, Richard G. Walker. Survivors are his children: Perry L. Hournbuckle, Jr. and wife, Jan of Brownfield, IN, Bob D. Hournbuckle and wife, Sandy of Dayton, OH, Lewis L. Hournbuckle and wife, Margaret of Frederick, MD, Grace H. Walker of Cincinatti, OH, Chester L. Hournbuckle and wife, Becky of Carlsbad, NM, Darrell R. Hournbuckle and wife, Wendy of Jamestown, ND; daughter-in-law, Julia Hournbuckle of Orlando, FL; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, David Hournbuckle of Brownfield, Texas and sister, Leona Gutierrez of Rogers, Arkansas.
