Peggy Joyce Patton Moore, 91, of Carlsbad New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024. She was born on February 20, 1933 to Edward C and Tommie D Patton in a small house on the outskirts of Anson, Texas. Peggy graduated from Lueders High School in 1951 and attended the Draugles Business School in Abilene, Texas. She married her high school sweetheart, Glen Moore, in Lueders Texas, on July 19, 1952. They lived in Fort Worth, Texas where they started their family. They moved to Grand Prairie, Texas and then to El Paso, Texas January 25, 1961. The family moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico in December of 1972.

Peggy worked a variety of positions through the years. Many of those years were as a bookkeeper for Robert R. Teel’s Pawn Shop and Bud Roland’s Laundries. She also worked as church secretary at the Northside Church of Christ, and managed a thrift store. The majority of her working years was at Lakeview Christian Home where she retired after 33 years as their Activity Director.

Peggy was an active member of the Church of Christ wherever she lived. She was always involved in teaching the children’s Bible classes. During her years at Sunset Church of Christ she hand painted biblical scenes throughout the hallways for all to enjoy. She also began the children’s handprints on the wall in the “tunnel” as children began their elementary bible class years.

Peggy also enjoyed all types of crafts, painting t-shirts, and oil painting. She enjoyed making items and was always willing to teach anyone who was willing to learn. It gave her much joy to share her paintings and shirts with family and friends. Peggy was a garage sale expert. Many Fridays and Saturdays were spent visiting with all the patrons of her garage sales.

Family was an important part of her life. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren getting together any time of the year, but especially enjoyed Saturdays living at the Lakeview Boathouse where lots of swimming and grilling were enjoyed by all who attended. In her most recent years, she enjoyed the company of her two little companions Bo and Little Bit, who she considered part of the family.

Peggy is survived by her four children: Glenda Diane (John Paul) Athanasiou, Geri Darlene (Lynn) Shelton, Gena Denice (Don) Peterson and Gary Dennis Moore. Her 11 grandchildren: Jeffrey (Kara) Shelton, Jenger (Tracy) Wilkomn, Preston (Sarai) Peterson, Lynde (Jeremy) Longbine, Jana (John) Callicoat, Chris Athanasiou, Kevan (Jenna) Athanasiou, Daegan (Quentin) Benham, Justin Barnhart, Jarin Cummings, and Jeremiah Booher.
