Obituary
Pauline Foster, 93, of Alamosa Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, May 12, 2018. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Land officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Pauline Foster was born March 24, 1925 in Honey Grove, Texas to William Jennings and Susie Lavanna (Falls) Hatley. She graduated from Honey Grove High School in 1942. Pauline moved to Shreveport, LA in 1948 and before the year ended she moved to Carlsbad. The joy of her life was raising her three beautiful daughters as she spent countless hours in numerous activities with them. Pauline married Leonard Foster October 12, 1966 and they were married 2 weeks shy of 50 years at the time of Leonard's death. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, cooking, crocheting, sewing, camping and playing games, especially Yahtzee. Pauline worked many years beside Leonard at Happy Valley Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school, directing VBS, singing in the choir, singing solos and many other areas of church work. She cherished family gatherings and reunions and never turned down the opportunity to be with her family. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard Foster; son, Jim Foster; grandson, Todd Carroll; great-grandson, Trace Lariviere; sisters: Juanita Smith and Jewel McCullough. Survivors are her daughters: Paula Autry and husband, Floyd of Carlsbad, NM, Katy Wiechert and husband, Kent of Corrales, NM and Jo Scheel and husband, Happy of Carlsbad, NM; daughter-in-law, Gloria Foster of Spring, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Jones of Hubbard, Texas, best friend of 64 years, Velma Inman Rowlett and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Brandon Lamb, David Lamb, Tharyn Carroll, Lane B. Lariviere, Jeramy Porter, Jaxon Porter, Dalton Andrews and Wade Carroll. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
