Paul R. "Big Dog" Rivera

Obituary Paul Ray Rivera, "Big Dog", 36, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 in Lubbock, TX. He was born on May 9,1982 to Bill Rivera and Christy Castillo He was preceded in death by his dad Bill Ray Rivera, maternal and paternal grandparents, and several uncles and aunts. Paul was a fun-loving guy and very outgoing. He knew how to lift your spirits up when you were down. Paul had a very contagious smile and could light up a room with it. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 2001. Paul worked many years with Constructors Inc. Paul truly lived life to its fullest with family and friends. Paul was also a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Paul is survived by his mother, Christy Castillo of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Joey Armendarez and wife, Shayenne Armendarez of Santa Fe, NM; sister, Jennifer Rivera and Larry Duran, Jr. of Carlsbad, NM; nieces: Anjelica Armendarez and Espi Rivera both of Carlsbad, NM; nephews: Anthony and Ashton Armendarez, both of Santa Fe, NM; nephew, Nathaniel Rivera, of Carlsbad, NM, and honorary brother, Jesus "Bontz" Armendarez, Jr. Visitation will be 3:00 PM 5:00 PM, Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 15, 2018 at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, November 16, 2018 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Rivera, Anjelica Armendarez, Ylario Flaco, Jr., Ruben Gonzalez, Larry Duran, Jr., Alfredo Munoz, Jr., Michael Armendarez, Jesus Armendarez, Jr. and Joey Armendarez. Honorary pallbearers are Esperanza Rivera, Arianna Barron, Mecayla Armendarez and the Constructors Crew and close friends.
