Patsy “Pat” Barnes, 80, of Crenshaw Court, Carlsbad, NM, passed away November 3, 2022 at Lakeview Christian Home.  Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Monday, November 7, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Sunset Church of Christ.  Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pat was born November 29, 1941 in Shady Point, Oklahoma to Calvin and Leara (Wyatt) Marshall.  She graduated from Artesia High School in 1959 and attended Eastern New Mexico University. After moving to Carlsbad, she worked as a secretary for several businesses before going to work at the District Attorney’s office.  Pat retired as office manager with the District Attorney’s office after 26 years of service. She married Jon Barnes January 1, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  They enjoyed traveling and spending time at their home in Ruidoso.  Pat was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Raymond Cano; brother, Bob Marshall and sister, Reba Savoie.

Survivors are husband, Jon Barnes of the family home; daughters: Cindy Holguin and husband, Gerald of Carlsbad, NM, Shelley Cano of Dallas, Texas, Brandy Barnes Marion of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Tiffany Talley and husband, Matt of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters: Elsa Hayes of Grand Junction, Colorado, Kathy Shelton of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Ethan Holguin, Trey Cano, Jason Carrasco, Gerald Holguin, Johnny Lester and Steve Lester.  Honorary pallbearer is Matt Talley.  Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
