Patsy Grantner

Patsy Grantner, 66, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. Patsy was born on August 1, 1956, in Pecos, TX to Tomas and Ruth Hernandez.

Cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. A vigil is scheduled for 6:00 PM, Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March, 15, 2023, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez and Fr. Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Interment will follow at the Carlsbad Cemetery Columbarium. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Patsy grew up in Carlsbad, and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1974. She met the love of her life, Jim Grantner, at church and they got married and started their family of two beautiful girls. Her love for her family was evident in the time spent with her children and grandchildren, and how she shared her faith and love for God with them. Patsy spent over forty years teaching religious education at San Jose Catholic Church, where she grew up and served as a faithful parishioner. Her passion for teaching led her to open Mom’s Day Out in 1991 which is now San Jose Child Care, where she guided children for decades in love and kindness. Patsy was a beautiful soul, and she lived every day of her life for God. Her legacy of love and faith lives on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will never be forgotten.  

Patsy was preceded in death by her father, Tomas Hernandez; mother, Ruth (Montes) Hernandez; and two sisters: Frances Cox and Gloria Lopez.

Patsy is survived by her loving husband, Jim Grantner of Carlsbad, NM; two daughters: Antonia Galindo and husband, Robert of Carlsbad, NM; and Michelle Trew and husband, Chris of Carlsbad, NM; three grandchildren: Isaiah Galindo, Madison Trew, and Cade Trew; twelve nieces and nephews: Judi, Thomas, Mike, Cheyenne, Marvin, Jim, Mark, Robert, Danielle, Shane, Anthony, and Shawn; and numerous other extended family members.
