Gadbury came into this world, a baby with red hair and hazel eyes, first child of Henry and Minnie Gadbury. This infant was not to be known as a mover or shaker, she was to become a woman who shaped the lives of her children, shared herself and resources with all who had the privilege of knowing her, a devoted Christian who possessed the qualities of the "good woman" described in Proverbs 31, 10-31. Her education continued throughout her life. Her time line of life included a child growing up on a farm and all that involved, living through the "great depression", moving from Oklahoma to Carlsbad by driving unairconditioned cars on unpaved roads, marriage at age 16 to Bill Gillock, Sr., becoming a mother of a daughter at age 17, birth of two sons sixteen months apart, riding with her uncle Harley Ballard on his first school bus run, managing and operating small eating establishments in Carlsbad before the days of fast food, wife of a World War II Navy volunteer, interior decorator, care provider and retirement from Eddy County Treasurer's office. While she managed the intricacies of living, she also had lots of joy in her life. Picnics, swimming, fishing, story telling and travel provided times of laughter. The dash between 1-15-20 and 6-11-14 covers a lot of living. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Minnie Gadbury; sister, Margie Alexandre; two brothers: Harley Gadbury and Calvin Gadbury; son, Rocky Trapp; grandson, Buddy Barnes; great-grandchildren: Chyanne Burnett and Thunder Sanchez. Survivors are her husband of 53 years, V. L. Trapp of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Barbra Dalton of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Bill Gillock, Jr. and wife, Marilyn of Carlsbad, NM, Jim Gillock of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Letha Barnes and husband, Tom of Ruidoso, NM; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers are Tom Barnes, Kenny Trapp, Dillon Trapp, Jack Brown, Shaston Johnson and Clay Schlothauer. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
