Opal Bentley

Obituary Opal Elizabeth (Morris) Bentley met Jesus and was reunited with her beloved husband, William Floyd Bentley on June 17, 2018. This great lady stepped into the arms of Jesus on Fathers Day, with her daughter Connie present, along with granddaughters Kerri and Tara, as prayers and songs were sung. Opal was born July 9, 1915 in Gainesville, Texas to Elbert Morris and Sarah (Benedict) Morris. She lived on this earth for almost 103 years and she lived every moment to its fullest. Opal was strong of heart and conviction, adored and respected by all who had the privilege to know her. Floyd met Opal in her teen years, swept her off her feet with his musical skills, rugged good looks and precious heart. They loved each other long and strong. Their love endured poverty, the Oklahoma dust bowl, the Great Depression, and more. But they were in it together and lived with such joy and happiness, raising four children: Garrie Ann, Beverly, Bill, and Connie. The Bentleys had great adventures camping and fishing from one side of this great nation to the other. Opal worked in the home she worked hard. Not only did she care for her children and Floyd, she ran a seamstress business out of that same home and had a strong clientele that appreciated her intricate talent. Opal played a mean domino game and could out fish anyone! She helped raise her siblings, Ruby, Ace, Jack, Don, and Robbie Lee; they adored her. Opal had an extended family in her friends and she loved to travel and laugh with them. Opal was cherished by her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews with whom she spent countless hours teaching them how to play games, fish, cook but she did more...she implanted a strong sense of self in each of them. She taught them the right from wrong, showed them loveshe molded these people. Opal Bentley was Floyds devoted wife, a loved mother, a revered grandma, a fierce sister, an adored aunt, a loyal friend. There are not enough beautiful words to describe this sweet soul. Opal was preceded in death by her father, Elbert Morris; mother, Sarah Benedict Morris, her daughter, Beverly (Bentley) Roberts, and her husband and soul mate, William Floyd Bentley. She is survived by 3 children: Garrie Ann Norton and husband Bud Goyen, Bill Bentley, and Connie Dunagan and husband, George Dunagan; 8 grandchildren: Brenda Tippit and husband, Brad Tippit, Bart Norton and wife, Marie Norton, Chuck Roberts, Kevin Roberts, John Bentley, Daniel Bentley and wife, Shaun Bentley, Kerri Dunagan, and Sean Dunagan and wife, Tara Dunagan; 15 great-grandchildren Nathan Sudol, Nicholas Sudol, Naomi Hendren, Taylor Sudol, Lindsey Shore, James Norton, Cody Roberts, Scott Bentley, Lilly Bentley, Shelby Dunagan Stephens, Abby Goodale, Emmy Goodale, Sophia Dunagan, Grayer Dunagan and Harper Dunagan; 11 great-great-grandchildren: Austin, Mason, Victoria, Taylor, Sophia, Kopeland, Maria, Layla, Dominic, Haley, and Olivia and numerous nieces and nephews.
