Obituary Olga Larez Onsurez, 76, of W. Cedar Street, Loving, New Mexico, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at University of New Mexico Hospital, Albuquerque, NM. Visitation will be 1:00 PM 5:00 PM, Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Loving. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Fr. Pasala Hruday Kumar and Fr. Martin Cordero concelebrating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Olga Larez Onsurez was born to Merced Molinar Larez and Tomas Fernando Larez on February 15, 1942 in Carlsbad, NM. She went to grade school with her now husband, Chris Onsurez, in Loving where they both had that childhood crush on one another. They reencountered as young adults in 1965 at a dance at the Loving Skating rink. Olga and Chris were married on June 6, 1966 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Loving. On June 4, 1967 they had their only child, a son named Jackie Lea Onsurez. Olga went to school and graduated from both Loving and Carlsbad School District in May 1961. While a young teen and after the death of their father, Olga joined her brothers and sisters to work to help their mother with the household. She took on a job at the Apache Movie Theater in 1945, where she sold tickets and popcorn. Shortly after taking on that job, she began working for Whites Department and Hardware store. While in school, Olga was offered a job as a secretary for the Bracero Program from 1959-1964 helping Mexican Nationals who came to work in the United States supplementing our men who were away at WWII. In 1965, Olga was offered a position as secretary for the Loving School District Elementary School where she bonded with the children, teachers, staff and parents. She retired from the Schools in 1999. After retiring, Olga served on the Loving school board and held several board positions throughout the years. She was currently serving as president of the board. Olga was an avid Loving Falcon fan and always showed support in academics and athletics. Olga, Chris and Miranda were instrumental in establishing Class Act, now Falcon Fest, and took pride in joining the community of Loving with their very first Village Christmas Light Parade. Olgas accomplishments were many but being an amazing wife, mother, daughter and sister was her greatest achievement. She was proud of her son graduating as an engineer and working abroad in Saudi Arabia and seeing him make a home and business in Thailand. She looked forward to growing old with her husband and son and enjoying her next chapter in life. Olga was a pillar of the Loving Community and Our Lady of Grace Church where she taught CCD for many years, aided many priests in the office and opened up her home to them. She took charge of cleaning and decorating Our Lady of Grace, setting up the Nativity Scene and Altar decorations during the Christmas season. Olga was also a member of the church choir for many years. She enjoyed being a part of the 16th of September Fiesta committee, building floats with her husband, sister, Miranda, family and many friends. Olga was very generous towards her family helping her mother to care for her quadriplegic brother BeBe and later her mother. She helped care for her sisters +Enedina, Rudy, her inseparable sister, Miranda and her nephew, Saul Ray, who was always more of a son to her and Chris and who he in turn cared for the above so unselfishly. Olga had a short bout with leukemia but she put it in the hands of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was soon promised a short miracle by Our Lady of Fatima but suddenly turned ill. Not long after she received her Catholic last rites, she was called home by the Lord, which was also the day after her elder brother Bucho was called home in Pomona, California. Olga was preceded in death by her parents: Merced and Tomas Larez; brothers: Ramon (Bebe) and Bucho Larez and sister, Enedina Larez Castaeda. She is survived by her husband, Chris of the family home; son, Jack Onsurez of Thailand; adopted daughter, Marci Rosell Onsurez; brother, Rudy Molinar Larez of Maine; sister, Miranda Darcy of Loving; special nephew, Saul Ray Sanchez of Loving and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Armando Onsurez, Eddie Onsurez, John Darcy, Patrick Renfro, Julius Castaeda and Jacob Vasquez (Darcy).
