Olga D. Medina, 61, of W. Rose Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at her home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Friday, June 12, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Friday, June 12, 2015, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2015, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Olga D. Medina was born November 30, 1953 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Guadalupe C. and Consuelo V. (Rubio) Duran. She married Juan Medina on December 15, 1969. They moved to Phoenix, AZ where Ola managed apartments over 15 years. She returned to Carlsbad shortly after her husband, Juan, passed away to be with her father. Olga loved spending time with her family and taking care of her chihuahua's. She was heroic in her fight with breast cancer and was admired by all. She was preceded in death by her mother, Consuelo Duran; husband, Juan Medina; brothers: Daniel, David and Ruben Duran; sisters: Teresa Navarrette and Elsie Duran. Survivors are her children: Johnny Medina of Phoenix, Arizona, Joseph Medina of Phoenix, Arizona, Renee Medina of Phoenix, Arizona, Jacob Medina of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Pamela Kingan, John Medina, Jeremy Medina, Ruben Vargas, Jade Medina, Jasmine Vargas, Monique Vargas, Zerilina Medina; father, Guadalupe C. Duran; sisters: Nancy Lopez and husband, Frank of Carlsbad, NM, Yolanda Sing of Carlsbad, NM; brothers: Rudolfo Duran and Rentia Luna of Albuquerque, NM, Michael Duran and wife, Rosie of Van Horn, Texas, Gerald Duran and wife, Linda of Tempe, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rudy Duran, Michael Duran, Gerald Duran, John Medina, Jeremy Medina and Danny Ramos. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
