Oleta Sanders

Oleta Sanders, 87, of Blanton Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Lakeview Christian Home. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2015, 10:00 AM, at Happy Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Tarvin and Pastor Dick Means officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Oleta Sanders was born January 15, 1928 in Dallas, Texas to P. C. and Fannie (Johnson) McElroy. She married O. C. Sanders and they lived in New Mexico and Oklahoma before moving to Del City in 1951. Oleta worked at the Rio Grande Electric, Southern Union Gas and later served as Justice of the Peace before retiring. She moved to Carlsbad in the mid 90's. Oleta was a musician and enjoyed playing music with her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, O.C. Sanders; sisters: Earlene Gentry and Jewel Shrum. Survivors are children: Juanita Newman and husband David of Colorado Springs, CO, Johnny Sanders and wife, Goodi of Salt Flat, TX, Ernie Sanders of Carlsbad, NM, Donnie Sanders and wife, Dora of Queen, NM, Jerry Sanders and wife, Linda of Bixby, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Steve, Bradley, Tater, Katie, Donnie, Matt and Mandy; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
